In the medical sector, SIA Dozimetrs offers a range of equipment and solutions both for maintaining a safe environment and for obtaining and processing dosimetry data.
SIA Dosimetrs together with partners (University of Latvia, VSIA “Latvijas Vides, Geology and Metrology Center”) conducted a large-scale study to compare dosimetry data obtained with different methods, namely with EPD (Electronic Personal Dosimeters) and TLD (Thermoluminescence, or passive dosimeter). As a result of the research, a solution was created that enables the collection of dosimetry data, regardless of the type of these two dosimeters. Using the research data, the DosiBase software was developed in cooperation with partners, which is used by users all over the world. In partnership with the company DosiBase, tools were developed that facilitate the acquisition of dosimetry data from eye, finger dosimeters. To ensure the quality control of TLD dosimeter tablets, a unique DosiBase GCC software was created, which enables checking compliance with certain parameters. We have installed equipment at the Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital (RAKUS), delivered dosimetric equipment and DosiBase software, which enables high-quality processing of dosimetry data and storage in accordance with Latvian regulatory enactments.
The use of ionizing radiation continues to grow in various industries today. The issue of using nuclear energy to generate electricity is becoming more and more urgent as fuel reserves run out.
Along with the development of new technologies, sources of ionizing radiation are more widely used in many fields, for example, in medicine (computed tomography, radiation therapy of malignant tumors, for diagnostic purposes in dentistry, etc.), at customs border control points, airports (x-ray screening equipment), industry (defectoscopy) and elsewhere . Of course, together with the new technologies, the level of protection against radiation also improves, thus the radiation doses received by the workers also decrease [Rosenstock et al., 2005], but despite this, the danger of accidents and technical damage still exists. It is important to be aware of the consequences of exposure to ionizing radiation in order to find timely solutions to prevent health problems.
